The Spars in the Driftwood relate to the huge beams or spars that keep the Driftwood standing. They were salvaged from shipwrecks along the coast and were utilised to build the Driftwood in the 1650s. The building itself offers a wealth of history having been converted from a tin mining warehouse, chandlery, sail making loft and fish cellar over the years to a hotel with bar in the early 1900’s and a public bar in the 1940’s.
Here at the Driftwood we love our food as much as we love our drink. We have four different dining areas for you to choose from, so you are sure to get the perfect atmosphere to go with your food! Please note that we don’t take bookings in the main bar on a Friday night until after 8 o’clock.
1. We have our bustling main bar for those who want to be amongst the action (and amongst the beer!)
2. The Starboard Quarter is perfect for families and children, it has a juke box and lots of board games to play on a rainy Sunday afternoon in front of the fire!
3. If you fancy waitress service our Top Bar could be the choice for you, it has a balcony area perfect for larger parties (top tip! ask for table 55 for a sea-view!)
4. If you however want to see the sea with your dinner, then our sea-view restaurant is perfect! – Please note that the sea-view restaurant is only open for Sunday lunch during the winter months (check our facebook page for updates on when it will be open more in the spring / summer)
We love a good party, and the best one you can have is your own wedding. If you want a seaside location with delicious food, lovely wine, amazing seaviews and friendly staff we are your ideal choice. Check out our wedding pack and then give us a ring to have a look around and a chat to see if what we offer matches your vision of your special day.
In addition to all the above we have 15 bedrooms in our Bed & Breakfast, 5 have sea-views, 6 are in our annex (4 of which are family rooms). They are all ensuite with tea and coffee facilities, and wifi. We sometimes have some special offers on over winter so make sure to check our Facebook for updates or give us a ring for some more info!
