20 Oct Why we love… Rustic Cakes Cornwall!

Here at The Drifty our love of great beer will always come first, but top-notch cake is a close second! We’re lucky to have a first-class artisan bakery on our doorstep here in St Agnes, in the form of Rustic Cakes Cornwall (check out @rusticcakescornwall on Facebook or Instagram).

Suzy and her team create an array of decadent cakes, brownies, flapjacks and tray bakes combining the highest professional standards of production with a truly rustic, handmade style. They always look and taste incredible!

This small family business began life in 2015 and now supplies many cafes, independent stores, and boutique hotels in this corner of Cornwall. You can spot a Rustic Cake creation from a mile away. Their products are beautifully decorated, generously proportioned and packed with the finest ingredients (the delicious jam in the Victoria Sponge is a good example); Suzy never scrimps on anything and it really shows.

We change our selection seasonally but currently we have an indulgent chocolate and raspberry cake; a classic Victoria sponge; a zesty lime, coconut and courgette cake; and butternut squash, orange and poppyseed cake. The latter may sound a little strange but it’s actually the team’s current favourite (we did a quick poll; it was a tight competition between this and the Vicky Sponge) so moist and tasty!

You can order these cakes via the App (for eat-in or takeaway) and they can be enjoyed in all areas of The Driftwood Spars, including The Crib Shack when open.
